First Filipino Alliance Church is a vibrant congregation where weekly worship services form the heart of its Christian identity. The FFAC congregation has been meeting together since the summer of 1983 and officially organised as a “self-supporting, self-propagating, self-governing” local congregation affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada in 1989. Beyond that, FFAC’s identity is as complex as the world it serves.
FFAC played a significant role in the founding of the Council of Filipino Alliance Ministries (CFAM) in 1991 that would serve to reach Filipinos through planting and developing Great Commission churches. It was renamed the Conference of Filipino Alliance Ministries in 1998. Over time, FFAC had sent out six of its leaders to pastor the growing number of CFAM congregations.
FFAC is actively participating in local evangelism and global missions, as it extends its ministry through the Filipino International Network that is a catalytic movement of Christians committed to motivate and mobilize Filipinos globally to partner for worldwide missions. Currently, six FFAC members are deployed as career missionaries with the C&MA in partnership with FIN.
As well as ministering to the community and to people from around Edmonton, FFAC is a welcome center for many new Filipino immigrants and Overseas Filipino Workers, many who are lonely and who seek advice and assistance regarding their new Canadian home.
